Artist Bio - The Dot Art of Brandon Besecker

I’ve never been very good at art so I never had an interest in pursuing it. My interest in dot art evolved from a desire to repaint a living room coffee table with a mandala. I have lots of artist friends, but don’t have the money that they would desire for painting the table for me so I started investigating how to paint mandalas and stumbled across dot art. The more I dove in, the more I saw that this just may be something I could do. Freehand painting something, no way. But following lines and putting a dot specifically where it has to be, and of the exact size seemed natural for me! I’m super detail oriented and always have been. (I was a gunsmiths apprentice in high school and tore down many modern and antique guns, refinished them, and rebuilt them and there’s no room for mistakes in that detail oriented world!)

I’ve been inspired by a lot of amazing artists who I love to watch and study while they paint, and I enjoy sharing my techniques with others on how I create my art.

Artist Statement

I am an example of why we should never stop opening life’s new doorways. Prior to February 2021 I never considered myself to have any artistic talents. Discovering dot art has provided me with a pathway to explore new areas of my mind and imagination. I'm also able to give back by supporting charitable events and teaching children how to create dot art. I want to inspire others and help lead them to finding their artistic voices.
